to Amazing State Parks

Explore the island’s natural wonders in state parks. Hike through maritime forests, kayak along tidal creeks, and witness the diverse ecosystems that make Amelia Island a haven for nature enthusiasts. On the north end of the island is Fort Clinch State Park. This is 1,400 acres of undisturbed lands, however to the south, you will find Amelia Island State Park, a protected bird nesting habitat. BOOK NOW to explore either of these Amelia Island parks.

Amelia State Park

Seasonal closures to vehicular and equestrian traffic go into effect each spring at Amelia Island State Park for the undisturbed nesting of at risk shorebirds. The southern park closes to driving on the beach, but pedestrians and anglers are allowed to pass through at the waterline only. Bicyclists must dismount and walk their bicycles at the waterline. Beach umbrellas, canopies, chairs or coolers are not permitted in this area.

Fort Clinch State Park

A row of cannons point across the St. Mary’s River towards Georgia, a sign of troubled times. Years ago, Florida was Spain, and Georgia belonged to the United States. During this period, tall ships would visit our naturally deep water port. Ship captains were fully aware of their quick access to the Atlantic Ocean, optionally offering a hurried escape. You can explore the fort and its historic buildings, galleries, and grounds. Additionally, make plans to visit on the first weekend of every month. This is when you can witness a soldier fire the cannons, and you will see the demonstration of other battlefield skills.

The historic fort is only one aspect of this 1,400-acre park. Maritime forests with massive live oak trees provide a striking canopy road as you travel to the grounds of the fort. The park is home to gopher tortoises, white tail deer, painted buntings, and other wildlife. There are hiking and bike trails, and two campgrounds. Fishing, shelling, and shark-tooth hunting will keep the entire family occupied with fun activities!

Unearth the historical tales of Fort Clinch State Park, where Civil War-era structures stand against the backdrop of stunning coastal landscapes. This must-see destination seamlessly blends history and nature. BOOK NOW to secure luxury transportation to one of our fascinating state parks.
