The man was a Baptist preacher; Mike changed the man’s tire and refused to accept any money for his efforts. Mike told the man, “If you see someone who needs help, I just ask that you stop and help them.” Well, this preacher told everyone of Mike’s good deed and by the time he got back to his Texas terminal, word had already arrived. Mike was quite surprised when he was honored with the Highway Angel Award.
The summer of 2022 marked 50 years of marriage to his sweetheart, Sheila. They have lived in Nassau County, Florida, for 30 years. Mike and Sheila enjoy time spent with their five grandchildren and another six great-grandchildren. However, like most grandparents, Mike admits he loves having them, but he also loves giving them back.
